Lucrezia Borgia (Cantarella)

Higuri You-sensei creates such beautiful manga. Every one I read, I love more than the one before it. Unfortunately, as far as cosplay goes, I haven't really found any characters that are a good match for me. All of the characters I've considered have felt wrong for one reason or another (a lot of the reasons, however, were "I couldn't do [insert character name here] justice!", which usually doesn't stop me from boarishly continuing on. Only Higuri-sensei and a few other mangaka have such a power over me).

This year, I'm participating in a series of Madrigal choral performances for the Christmas season. When the phrase "You have to supply your own costume" came at our first rehearsal, my last wall of resistance was broken! ^_^

The overdress is dark blue cotton velvet, the underdress is a slinky unidentified synthetic. The sleeve gauntlets are a drapery print embroidered with freshwater pearls. The neckline is decorated with three different gold laces, and more pearls. I avoided the odd Leia-cinnabun hairstyle seen on the cover for her more standard skullcap.
